Modern HQ for one of the world's top creative firms

This 90,000 square foot project in New York City’s Financial District included three full building and two penthouse floors. The two-year collaboration with Rogers Partners Architects served as Droga5’s dramatically expanded North American headquarters. Jennifer was part of the initial design team where she developed departmental programming, space planning and materials selection. She continued on as a private consultant responsible for specifying all interior furnishings including personally designing all executive offices. She was later asked to join Droga5’s in-house art committee.

The team’s design approach was aimed at providing a simple, clean environment with plenty of open workspace meant to highlight the creative talent at the agency. In order to achieve this, departmental hubs were interspersed throughout the three main office floors to encourage movement within the space. This included inserting vertical circulation to accommodate impromptu meetings and an oversized, amphitheater staircase that doubled as seating for in-house presentations. Because of its proximity to the kitchen as well as the ability to act as additional seating and its own social space this was often referred to affectionately as the “heart” of the agency. Boxed conference rooms with full glass walls provided private meeting space without sacrificing the open concept. Custom banquettes repurposed lost space under stairwells for more casual workstations.

The use of natural materials, such as charred wood, helped define the main spine of circulation linking the three floors as well as to offset the comparably cold modern palette found throughout.  Jennifer suggested the introduction of library areas and reading nooks outfitted with personally sourced vintage pieces to complement new furniture. These were envisioned as small enclaves to steal a few reflective moments away from the demands of a computer screen. Art selections in both the offices and public hallways served as an extension of the agency’s thoughtful but lighthearted approach.

Droga5 is one of the world’s leading creative agencies known for its innovation and strategy-based campaigns for clients like Under Armour, UNICEF, Chobani, Hennessey, Prudential Insurance, Spotify and Bing.
